Finlay Braithwaite is audio engineer & sound designer with over ten years’ experience. Finlay is also a key member of the performance collective Gravity Wave. As accomplished musicians, Gravity Wave has used the guise of a ‘band’ to present performance art and spectacular audience experiences that combine traditional performance elements of music and theatre with challenging interactive elements, video and image projections. With an emphasis on collaboration, these performance events often incorporate other artists and performers in addition to the core members. The approach has been to create multi-layered works that provide a range of options for the viewers — from audiences passively experiencing the work to complex participatory engagements with both audiences and performers directing the experience. The works are playful, interactive and draw on the collective consent and direction of the audience. He also teaches at Ryerson University.
