Azulejos

Interactive Installation. Toronto, 2019
Inspired by the colourful Portuguese tiles called azulejos, Victory Social Club created two interactive paintings for Dundas West Fest where festival-goers were able to create beautiful and dynamic designs reminiscent of the famous tiles, by simply moving their bodies in front of the artworks.

Azulejos are found on the interior and exterior of churches, palaces, ordinary houses, schools, and nowadays, restaurants, bars, and even railways or subway stations. They are an ornamental art form, but also had a specific functional capacity like temperature control in homes.
